David Edwards Fund

It is with great sadness to announce that David Edwards has passed away on Wednesday- February 27, 2008.

David's Hope

It would be an unforgettable November
As silence fell across the field
Players down upon their knees
An ocean of tears will spill

For a while it was touch and go
No one knew what to expect
They said he may never walk again
And through constant prayers
God set this plan into effect

“A lesson will come forth that will join
all beings together- to unite strangers
with strangers- to give to the cause of
this young man and enable him to walk
into the future”

Days, weeks, months and years
Throughout God’s task David became
An inspiration to his peers
His shinning smile, optimism and
Strength became the fighting Pillar
In the Maverick’s game

As dreams are made, prayers are said
And in God’s given time
Little miracles are blessed-
Soon another stride would light the way
David now stands with the help of a
frame

Sometime ago another miracle arose
David gained feeling in his thumbs and
toes- So much accomplished by a
determined young man with a heart of a
Lion he has made his own plan

David can whistle, so sweet the sound
Like that of a songbird, his parents so
proud- A candle once flickered two years
ago now that same candle so it
proudly glows

David’s Hope, Lord we all pray-
To see David walk again--- one day
You can help David’s family keep him
in Rehabilitation- Without your donation
David’s Hope will flicker, keep it
glowing, and keep it bright.

LET'S KEEP DAVID EDWARDS STANDING

On November 15 it will be 2 years since we all came to know David Edwards. With our busy lives, it is easy to forget this fine young man that touched so many of us in one horrible instant. David took off this year from school to dedicate more time to rehab and to getting his independence. The good news is that David's rehabilitation is going very well and with great results. He can use a computer and even play video games with his siblings using a mouth piece.

Now the down side that we can help with. David’s insurance coverage has a lifetime maximum benefit of $1M. David has already met the maximum and his rehab expenses continue to climb. He is now covered by Medicaid but they will NOT cover his rehab. NEISD has a policy that will kick in and cover up to $5M, but it has a huge deductible of $25,000.

Our immediate goal is to collect enough donations to cover the deductible. Once The NEISD insurance deductible is met then they will cover David 100% for up to $5M. If you feel like you can contribute a cash donation to help out with David's rehab, we know that David and his family would be very grateful.

No amount is too small.

Checks can be made to the David Edwards Fund and sent to:
